The current design of the inlet casing has stiffness close to 7MN/m. while the desired stiffness is 175MN/m. This stiffness needs to be achieved with minimum weight to the structure.
This objective can be achieved by using advanced design methodologies.
The design study will produce a transfer function that describes the static stiffness of the casing as a function of various geometric features and boundary condition.
These transfer functions will be used to determine the most robust casing design for the inlet casing while minimizing weight.
To achieve this, a total of 91 models were analyzed to get optimized transfer function.
